Rays Get Two Prospects For Brandon Guyer

Today, the Rays acquired two prospects for Brandon Guyer, who was a vital piece in the Matt Garza trade to the Cubs. Guyer is going to be a platoon outfielder for the Indians. The two prospects heading back to Tampa are outfielder Nathan Lukes and pitcher Jhonleider Salinas.

Nathan Lukes is 22 years old and is having a great season. He was just moved up to high Class-A. He slashed .301/.375/.453 with five homers and 14 steals in 393 plate appearances in the Class-A Midwest League. He will be added to a nice young pool of outfielders in Tampa’s system. His versatility allows him to play all three outfield spots.

Finally, Salinas is a right-handed pitcher that is only 20 years old. He has logged 30 innings in the Arizona Rookie League and compiled a 3.30 ERA with a 38-to-14 K/BB ratio in 30 innings of work. This kid has all the tools to be a major leaguer
