The Seattle Mariners have been bitten with the injury bug this season, mostly with their pitching staff. With Felix Hernandez and Wade Miley already on the DL, it seems that Taijuan Walker might be heading there as he is facing some tendinitis in the arch of his right foot. So with Walker missing his start on Friday that would make three key starters out of the rotation.
Jerry Dipoto did what most of us have been waiting for and traded the Toronto Blue Jay’s for left hander Wade LeBlanc. The 31-year-old lefty has a record of 7-2 and a impressive ERA of 1.71 over 14 starts for Triple-A Buffalo this season. It seems Dipoto might have snagged a solid pitcher to help the badly injured rotation. Reports show that LeBlanc will make his first start for Seattle friday and it won’t be an easy one as he will be facing the St. Louis Cardinals.
More upsetting news was released this morning as Charlie Furbush was transferred to the 60-day disabled list, giving us a lot of doubt for seeing him any time soon. With that transfer the Mariners pick up their old bullpen favorite, Tom Wilhemsen. Wilhemsen was released by Texas and became a free agent after he refused to play for their Triple-A team. Let’s hope he can turn around his struggling season and bring some life back to the Mariners. Their bats are there but their pitching is showing a lot of issues, thanks to the injured rotation. Let’s start a nice winning streak tonight fellas! Go Mariners!!!!!
