Breaking news this morning as reports show that Mariners Chairman and CEO Howard Lincoln will step down this afternoon. Lincoln has been at his position since 1999 and started with early success when the Mariners went to the playoffs in 2000 and 2001, where the Mariners set a record for most wins in a regular season with 116. Lincoln now has endured a 16 year playoff drought making it the longest active streak in MLB. No details have been announced but it seems John Stanton will take over the role of Howard Lincoln. The team has announced they will hold a press conference at 3 PM West coast time and announce all details about what is to come. Hopefully we will get more information about Lincoln’s decision to step down. What do you think his reasons are?
