The Seattle Mariners signed 32 year old Franklin Gutierrez to a one year deal. Guti, who has spent a lot of time away from the team with personal health reasons, hit .292 with 15 homeruns, 35 RBI’s, and 11 doubles over 59 games last year. With the Mariners looking all over the league for more depth in the outfield, Guti will be a big help with his bat and speed in the outfield. The big question is if he can stay healthy and keep producing at the plate.
No details have been released about his contract, but Jerry Dipoto was happy to keep Guti as a Mariner this upcoming season and hopes he provides enough to bring the team to the post season.
