Per Bleacher Report, AJ Preller and the San Diego Padres have officially ended their Manager search, hiring former Arizona Diamondback’s 3rd-Base coach Andy Green.

May be a little suprising to some, as Ron Gardenhire seemed to be the fan favorite and other reports listed Rick Sofield as the front-office favorite.

Andy Green brings experience only as a minor league coach, managing the Missouri Osprey to a Pioneer League Championship just in 2013.  Green is a former ball player who spent most of his career in the minors and even played across seas in Japan.

Green is only 6 years removed from his professional career and has only 1 year of Major League level coaching, which was last year as the 3rd base coach for an Arizona Diamondbacks (79-83) who only finished with 5 more wins than the 2015 Padres.

The San Diego Padres are set to have a presser at 3 pm PST.
