Today, the AL West and AL East Division Champs will face in a critical series of a best out of 5. The 2 teams include the heavy hitting Blue Jays versus the quiet, but deadly Texas Rangers. Now, the Blue Jays are making their first appearance since Joe Carter hit the walk off homer in the 1993 World Series that they won. Now, on the other hand the Rangers have been in the play offs the last 4 out of 6 seasons.

Next, the pitching match up is a good one. The Rangers will send Yovani Gallardo (13-11, 3.42 ERA, 121 K’s) to the mound against the best offense in baseball. This is a big task for Gallardo, but he has earned the ball for game 1 because he did in fact shutdown the Blue Jays earlier in the season. Gallardo threw 13.2 innings of scoreless baseball to earn a 2-0 record against the Blue Jays this year. One game was in Texas and the other one was in Toronto. Also, Gallardo will honestly give up a run or 2 in tonight’s game, but he cannot silent the Blue Jays bats, but has to keep them under control. Now, the Blue Jays will send one of the best pitchers in the game today on the mound. That man is David Price (18-5, 2.45 ERA, 225 K’s). Price is facing a team that has his number in the post season, but this offense will help Price succeed unlike the playoff games in Tampa were he only got 2 or 3 runs per start. Now, Price has to keep the ball in the yard too because the Rangers have some power threats as well. Also, do not let Delino DeShields get on base.

In addition, the pitching will be good, but 2 hitters to look out for tonight will be Shin-Soo Choo of the Rangers and Troy Tulowitzki of the Blue Jays. Shin-Soo Choo has been one of the or was the hottest hitter in baseball in the month of September. The question is can he translate it into the post season? Choo had a bounce back year and will look to prevail his team to a victory with his bat. Also, Tulowitzki has lots of plate appearances against Gallardo from both of their National League days. Tulo is hitting .381 with 1 homer and 4 RBIs in 21 at bats against Gallardo.
