Get Out Your Brooms; Dodgers SWEEP Giants

By:  Sean Meyers

Just when you thought Clayton Kershaw was human, he lights up the Giants in the series finale in ace fashion. Kershaw’s complete game shutout wrapped up a 3-game sweep of their divisional rivals. Kershaw matched his career high in strikeouts in a game with 15, and broke his career high strikeouts in a season at 249.

Chase Utley has settled in nicely to the Dodgers lineup, and knocked out his first homerun as a Dodger, albeit a solo shot. Providing consistent hitting and stellar defense in Howie Kendrick’s absence have been Utley’s tasks since being traded to Hollywood; two things he is very familiar with. The two slot hitter started off this season a little slow, but is starting to find some rhythm following his career leadoff man, Jimmy Rollins.

The Dodgers send Mat Latos to the bump tonight as LA kicks off game #1 of their four-game series in San Diego. The Dodgers look to build on their three-game win streak and hold onto the division lead. The Padres (3-7 in their last 10) are looking to stay afloat and have been very unimpressive this season, after buffing up their roster via payroll.
