Taylor Jungmann showed Milwaukee Brewer fans why there is reason to be optimistic for the future, and possibly even as early as next season. Jungmann went out and tossed 7 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 8. This was yet another wonderful performance from a young Brewer pitcher that figures to be a piece of the rotation next season. Since being called up Jungmann has a record of 6-3 with a 2.26 ERA. That is front of the rotation stuff from a young pitcher.
It is clear that there will be a turn over in the pitching rotation next season and I would say the front of the rotation is pretty much set, barring any injuries. The rotation should have Jimmy Nelson, Taylor Jungmann & Willy Peralta in the first three slots. If Matt Garza is not traded he will figure to be a number four or five starter with one spot open for several young arms to look at. What was once a weak point now looks like a strong point after a few trades and homegrown talent that hasn’t been rushed up to the major leagues.
Stay tuned Brewer fans, this season may just be a small setback. Good times are ahead at Miller Park!
