The Philadelphia Phillies pounded the Atlanta Braves 9-3 in yesterday’s affair. The Phillies put up 4 runs in the first inning and 5 in the fifth.
Dominic Brown has stole the show in this series against Atlanta as he hit his second HR in Game 2 of this 3 game set. Brown is 4 for 9 with 3 RBI’s in these two games. The 27-year old also showed his ability to run as he stole a base yesterday. Brown will look to help the Phillies sweep the Braves today.
David Buchanan got his second straight win of the season, improving himself to a 2-5 record. Buchanan threw 7.1 innings and gave up only 3 runs. Although he gave up a HR, Buchanan did strike out 4 and didn’t walk anybody. Cole Hamels originally got the nod, but was traded to the Texas Rangers on Thursday. Therefore, Buchanan got the opportunity to fill in for Hamels.
Philly fans are looking for the new ace of their staff now. Cliff Lee is still on the DL. Who knows if the Phillies will sell next year at the deadline. Maybe they will contend and decide to be buyers next year.
