3 Reasons Why the Yankees Didn’t Need to Make a Major Trade

If you think the Yankees made a mistake by not making any trades this deadline here are three reasons why you should remain confident this team can still not only make the playoffs, but also win the World Series.

  1. The starting rotation is full of talented pitchers.

No matter what has transpired during the regular season, the Yankees have proven they have what it takes to win a series of games. Here is the 3-man rotation I would use in the playoffs.

  1. Masahiro Tanaka
  2. Nathan Eovaldi
  3. Michael Pineda

The Yankees are fully stocked in the pitching department, which is something they can rely on heavily once the playoffs begin. There are also a few key additions to the bullpen that can help this team incase injuries occur. For anyone that has been paying attention, Diego Moreno made his first big league start going 5 1/3 innings strong retiring 16 of the 17 batters he faced. Another pitcher that was called up this week was Luis Severino. He doesn’t have a scheduled start yet. With the Pineda injury, we can expect him to start in his place. Both Moreno and Severino are two players that have a chance to really shine before the playoffs begin.

  1. The Yankees have been winning when it comes to hitting.

Just recently the Yankees tied their franchise high of scoring 21 runs in a single game. The two men that opposing pitchers should be fearful of are Mark Teixeria and Alex Rodriguez. Both guys are hitting the ball exceptionally well as of late and also combined for 50 homeruns. In addition to A-Rod and Tex, the Yankees have been able to produce an outstanding amount of runs. They have accounted for 485 runs batted in this year, coming in second behind the Toronto Blue Jays who lead with 543. This team can do one thing and that is produce runs, which is why I have them slightly favored to win it all this year.

  1. They are on top the AL East standings

The MLB is past its half-way mark in the regular season, and the Yankees have a 6 game lead on the Baltimore Orioles. Unfortunately, they haven’t been the best road team this far. Their record on the road is 27-27. However, in their last 10 games, which includes 7 road games, the Yankees are 7-3 which is pretty impressive. They now have three games left on their 10 game road trip which will bring them back to Yankee Stadium for 6 games. The Yankees have a three game series with the Red Sox, and another three game series with Toronto. If New York stays hot they have a chance to sweep both teams which will apply pressure on both Baltimore and Tampa Bay to play match them if they want to stay in the hunt. It’s still too early to tell which teams will make the playoffs, and with 61 games remaining on the schedule the Yankees will have to stay hot in order to earn a playoff berth this year.
